3 Must-Have Features To Include In Your Up-to-Date Master Bathroom

3 Must-Have Features To Include In Your Up-to-Date Master Bathroom

When it comes to your master bathroom, there are many new features that you should definitely consider including. These features can help to personalize your master bathroom, make it more functional for you, and give it an up-to-date look. Here are three features that we think you should give thought when considering a master bath update/remodel.

Shower With Two Heads

Since your master bedroom is often shared with your significant other, it is important to remember that you both may need to use certain aspects of the bathroom at the same time. Having two of certain things can be incredibly helpful. This is especially true of shower heads. Having a shower that is not only large, but also incorporates two heads on opposite sides of the shower, can allow the two of you to easily shower at the same time.

Walk-In Closet

Having a huge walk-in closet located inside your master bathroom is not only luxurious, but it is also the perfect location for it. The walk-in closet itself gives you plenty of space for all of your items and makes finding things a breeze. The location inside your bathroom also makes it incredibly easy to get dressed and ready without ever worrying about leaving your bathroom and gives you plenty of privacy while doing so.

Freestanding Tub

Last, but certainly not least, is the incorporation of a freestanding tub. This type of tub is not only magnificent to look at, but is also very deep and incredibly relaxing to soak and bathe in. The freestanding effect of the tub also make it possible to place this tub anywhere within your master bathroom. This gives your more freedom when it comes to designing your layout and really makes the bathroom work for you.

Three Bathroom Upgrades That Won't Require a Contractor

Three Bathroom Upgrades That Won't Require a Contractor

If you've looked at your bathroom and thought that it could really use an upgrade, now's a great time to get started on the project. While some upgrades will require a contractor, if you are feeling adventurous, here are three bathroom projects that you can do on your own.

Flooring

If your current flooring is starting to look dated or worn out, you can easily take out the old flooring and replace it with something new. Tile is the most durable flooring option, but luxury vinyl plank (as pictured) is another good bathroom flooring option. Tile can last 50 years or more. If you are unsure of your DIY skills, you may want to go with luxury vinyl plank since it is easier to install. It can still last 15 years or more, and by that time, you'll likely be ready for something new anyway.

Add a Television

If you like watching the news while getting ready in the morning or you'd like to relax in the tub while watching a movie, adding a television to your bathroom might be the perfect upgrade. Even if your television in not near any water sources, you will likely want to get a waterproof television. Otherwise, the moisture in your bathroom could damage your television.

Medicine Cabinet

If your bathroom doesn't already have one, add a medicine cabinet. You can get a wall-mounted cabinet, which you can likely install in roughly half a day. This project will likely require an assistant to help you lift the cabinet and to hold it while you're drilling. Despite its name, a medicine cabinet is for more than just medicine. You can put toothbrushes, deodorant, and other toiletries in it. This is a great way to save on counter space or other bathroom storage space, especially if you have a small bathroom.

Of course, with your upgraded bathroom, you'll likely also want an upgrade to your tub. At Pelham and White, we have an assortment of clawfoot, pedestal, and freestanding tubs.  Contact us to find the perfect tub to complement your newly upgraded bathroom.

Traditional and High-Tech Features Every Master Bathroom Should Have

Traditional and High-Tech Features Every Master Bathroom Should Have

Are you wanting to enhance your master bathroom? Maybe you are unsure of where to start and you need some inspirational ideas. Today we will cover some of the basics, and some of the latest tech and design trends that may give you some ideas to try out.

Master Bathroom Must-Haves

Every master bathroom should have two sinks and two mirrors. It's nice when you can get ready when you need to without the fuss of who will use the sink or mirror first. Go for an automatic sink so you don't have to worry about cleaning handles or knobs. Industrial style sinks are also popular this year. You can get that steampunk look by using brass or gold-colored pipes that are revealed and not hidden.

Smart Mirror, Smart Mirror on the Wall

Invest in a smart mirror so you can access the weather report, social media, and your calendar while you get ready. If that's not your thing, go for an elegant mirror with a beautiful frame. Just make sure you have either two mirrors or a very large one.

Technological Advancements Add Value

Master bathrooms should have heated floors, with voice-activated lighting, and temperature controls. And no high-tech bathroom would be complete without a built-in speaker system. That way you can listen to music, audiobooks, or podcasts whenever you'd like!

Trendy Tiling You'll Be Styling

Master bathrooms should always have both showers and bathtubs. Install more than one showerhead and create a bench for seating. Trending tiles come in unique shapes, colors, and patterns. Hexagons, diamonds, and fish scales are just a few you may encounter on your next trip to the tile store. You can use subtle earthy tones, minimalist color palettes, or give them a pop of bright color. Why not give your shower a unique look and fresh color by doing your own DIY tile job? And why not spruce up your shower with a skylight.

A Beautiful Wall That Stands Out

Have you ever considered creating an accent wall? You can use marble, brick, mosaic tile, natural stone, or wood to accentuate the wall and make it different. Set some plants around the bathroom, and with integrated lighting and music, you can set the atmosphere.

The Bathtub You Never Knew You Needed

If you haven't already, invest in a freestanding bathtub. These tubs are stylish, classy, and can add value to your home. They are the longest-lasting type of tub. Our specialty tubs use Acrylicast, a multilayered design that maintains warmth and never chips. Enduraclean technology keeps tubs shiny and easy to clean. With Total Immerse, you get more width in your tub for relaxing. Contact us today to order your own special freestanding bathtub.

Bathroom Upgrades for a Coastal Vibe

Bathroom Upgrades for a Coastal Vibe

If you're at home for an extended period of time, why not give your bathroom a makeover?

You can improve your bathroom with just a little elbow grease and some creativity — no contractor involved!

Here's how to transform your blah bathroom into a beach oasis.

1. White-wash the walls and clean up the floors.

Beach themed bathrooms look best with white walls. If your walls are another color, choose a subtle white that feels calm. Go for a shade that is bright but not blinding. If your walls have scratches, stains, or dings, refresh them! Add a little texture with a sponge if solid white feels too clinical.

If you need to redo the flooring, choose a smooth gray or tan color. Tile is best, but vinyl will also spread the beach vibe. Choose a material with a slight texture.

2. Choose your linens that give a beach vibe.

Select linens that accentuate your beach theme. Look for soft blues and greens for the rugs. Place a beach themed rug around your standing tub and in front of the shower. Choose white, blue and green hand towels. See if you can find hand towels with beach themed embellishments! This will add to the fun.

Choose tan, white, or light blue towels and washcloths.

3. Select simple yet powerful beach decorations.

Now, add beach decorations to your bathroom. A minimalist style is preferable in this case, so choose a couple of items that will carry the theme. Shells, a mural of a beach scene, and sand jars are affordable decorations that will really spruce up your beach themed bathroom.

Adorn the area around your tub with shells and sand jars. You can even incorporate sand from your favorite locations for a personal touch. Place a couple of these items on shelves or around the sink for the best effect.

4. Add the finishing touches.

Now, stand back and take a look at your bathroom. Is there anything that does not contribute to the overall theme? If so, remove it, or modify it to fit. For example, if you have an outdated mirror, give it an update. Or, maybe you have an old, dusty wooden shelf. Now is the time to refresh it with a coat of paint!

You can even include a few beach scented candles to complete the environment.

Hopefully this helps you transform your bathroom into a modern beach oasis. Contact us for more bathroom tips and for all of your luxury tub needs.

Three Bathroom Upgrades You Can Do in a Weekend!

Three Bathroom Upgrades You Can Do in a Weekend!

With spring in full swing, it's a great time for fun projects to freshen up your home. At Pelham & White, we truly believe that a luxurious tub is the best focal point of a bathroom escape. But if you find yourself at home with some extra time on your hands, consider adding to the ambiance of your bathroom with one of these simple projects. You might be surprised how drastically these mini makeovers will change your space!

Clean your Grout and Tile

Taking the time to thoroughly clean the grout and tile around your shower makes a huge impact on the look of your bathroom, not to mention it feels great to shower in a squeaky clean space. With just a few tools and some good old-fashioned elbow grease, you can scrub away months of buildup and bring your tile back to that newly remodeled status.

Replace your Doorknobs

If you prefer a less labor intensive project that packs just as much punch, consider replacing the knobs on your bathroom cabinets and doors. This easy DIY can be done in a couple of hours, including the time it takes to get the knack of doorknob replacing from a few YouTube videos. When selecting your replacement knobs, keep in mind the current vibe of your bathroom and choose a sensible accent. You can go modern, vintage, industrial or traditional. Get creative, the possibilities are endless!

Hang some Art

Whether it's a thoughtful impressionist piece, a downtown cityscape photo or your child's latest and greatest stick person, choose a piece of art that will bring a smile to your face as you rush through your morning routine or relax in your evening bath. Keep in mind, experts caution against displaying expensive pieces in the bathroom as the high humidity can cause damage. Remember to open windows and doors regularly to ensure your art can breathe.

We hope we've inspired you with these simple projects that you can totally conquer in a weekend! If you're interested in a more luxurious upgrade, contact us today to discuss our tub options.

Three Master Bathroom Must-Haves

Three Master Bathroom Must-Haves

Whether you are remodeling or you are designing your master bathroom for the first time, as you plan your new master bathroom, it is important to create a comfortable, relaxing space. To do this, there are at least three must-haves you will want to include.

Double Sinks

Anyone who has ever had to share a sink knows that having two sinks is important. This allows you and your significant other to get ready at the same time without getting in each other's way. Everyday activities such as shaving, brushing your teeth, and putting on make-up are much easier with your own designated area. You can also add drawers or shelving next to each sink, giving each person their own space for their items when they are not in use.

Freestanding Tub

Every master bathroom needs a freestanding tub. This is the place that you can go to unwind after a day of hard work. Whether you enjoy taking a bubble bath, you love reading a book relaxing in your large tub, or you just like to soak your sore muscles in warm water, a freestanding tub is a wonderful addition to any master bathroom. With a luxurious freestanding tub, you might even find yourself making excuses to spend more time in your master bathroom.

A Skylight

Adding a skylight to your master bathroom brings natural lighting into your space. Plus, once it gets dark, you can relax in your freestanding tub and gaze at the stars. Your skylight can add an increased measure of peace and beauty to your bathroom space. You can even get blinds or shades for your skylight if you are concerned about privacy or letting in too much light during certain times of the day.

If you are looking for the perfect freestanding tub to complete your dream bathroom, contact us. We will help you find the right tub to fit your needs.
